After leaving as a product planner at Casio, Ms. Nakazawa started her own business in Tokyo’s Akihabara district. She and her team produced an interactive lunch box designed to stimulate communication called X-bento as their first product.

Nakazawa founded Tokyo-based startup – UPQ in June 2015 with 24 products in seven categories. From SIM-free smartphone and a 50-inch 4K display and a variety of earphones, each item went from idea to production in just two months.

She uses a company called Cerevo, known for its smart consumer electronics, for engineering, design and quality control. Most of the products are sourced from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea. While Nakazawa has no immediate plans to bring UPQ overseas, all 24 products are FCC and CE certified, and thus can be sold in the US and EU.

We hope to hear more from Yuko Nakazawa in the near and long term future.
